Does working a couple hours a day at home on your computer and making thousands a month sound appealing to you? Well, there are people who are doing just that by using Google Adwords and loving it. They have more time to do the things they really enjoy in life. What they all learned is to work smarter, not harder.

What is Google Adwords? Whenever you conduct a search using google you will see a list of search results. These are displayed for free. In addition, you will see Sponsored Links displayed at the right of the search results and sometimes displayed at the top of the results. These are paid advertisements. The Adword advertisements are pay-per-click which means the person advertising pays google every time someone clicks on their advertisement.

People are using Google Adwords, a Pay-Per-Click program, to market their own website and products. In addition, many people are also using it even if they do not own a website. They use it to promote and market affiliate programs. The benefit to using adwords is that you can get instant traffic to your site.

Following are (5) steps to starting a successful google adwords campaign.

Step 1- Gain Basic Knowledge

Before you attempt to start making money with adwords you first need to educate yourself. You need to understand how adwords and pey-per-clicks work. Google has an informative site that provides demos and guides to learn the basics of how it works on their webpage. There are also numerous ebooks on the topic. However, make sure that the authors are credible, experienced, and professional experts. These experts share a wealth of information, tips and strategies.

Step 2 – Open a Google Adwords Account

After you understand how google works then you are ready to open a google adword account. Google has minimal costs to get started. Google will take you through several steps in setting up your account.

Step 3- Write a Creative Text Ad

You will need to create your ad. The purpose of the ad is to get as many people to click on it as possible. You want to stand out from the rest. Before writing your ad, study your competitor’s ads. Then write several different creative text ads and test each one to see which one has the highest click thru rate.

Step 4- The Keyword List

The keyword list is crucial. The right list can be the difference between success and failure so you will want to build the most efficient and focused keyword list. The more focused your keywords are the more targeted and interested the visitors who click on your ads will be resulting in more purchases. However, the more general your keyword list is the more visitors not interested in what you are selling and this can easily and quickly use up your advertising budget.

Step 5- Setting Your Budget

Google will ask you what is the maximum you would like to spend, on average per day and what is the maximum you are willing to pay each time someone clicks on your ad. Set your maximum budget at an affordable and comfortable level and never spend more than your visitor is worth.

These are the five basic steps to get you starting towards google adword success. As you practice and gain experience with adwords, you will keep improving your campaigns performance. And as you performance improves you will get more targeted visitors that will result in more sales.

Each module starts you off with a PDF overview of what will be accomplished by the end of the last video of the module. Each module is very newbie friendly as well. In the overview there are vocabulary words and terms that are also broken down into a more understandable fashion. The next step is to print off your check list. As you go through each of the modules there is a check list that has been put together to make your experience even easier.
One of the greatest things within each module is the link section. Throughout the videos numerous ideas and places to visit are mentioned and explained. So for yours and my convenience every website and tool mentioned has its very own link at the bottom of the page for every module.

now on to the details…

Module 1 will walk you through in detail, the importance of keyword research, and how to conduct keyword research. It will also guide you, and give you some ideas for your research topics. If you are like me (I already had an idea for my first site) that is ok too. this walk through will actually help you refine your idea and make it more attainable.

Module 2 is the “fun” module because you as the Creator get to design and customize your very own site. You will be walked through step by step on how to determine your sites name, how to go about purchasing a domain name (your site name), and how to set up hosting. Now for the newbie do not worry, remember how I mentioned the PDF overview? that will better your understanding of these terms and of course the purpose for their use. Explanation is also given in the videos as well. Don’t worry you will never be left to guess for yourself.

This system uses the WordPress application. WordPress has got to be one of the easiest yet most versatile platforms both for beginners and experts alike. You will be shown how to implement themes for your site, how to literally customize your site to exactly what you want it to look like.

When you have completed module 2 you will have a content full site set up the way you want it to look and operate. A congratulate applause is in order at this point!!

Module 3 Is and of course will always be my favorite module. Why? MONEY! In this series of videos six to be exact you will better understand the concept of affiliate marketing. You are given numerous avenues to make your site profitable, and best of all (like everything else) you are instructed and given guidance through every avenue. E-bay Amazon etc knowing how to use them and several others to make money with your site, are explained to you in awesome detail.
Still need help understanding what these are and how to use them? Not a problem! There is a forum for members of AMR where Michael himself will answer your questions and when he isn’t around nothing to worry about there are plenty of us around to answer your questions. Great people like Paul Schlegel founder, WorkAtHomeTruth, John Mann Creator, Niche Research Commando, (you will learn how to use this in module 2) and several others. The forum could be a review of its own so maybe that will come later. On to module 4.

Module 4 is a simple yet important phase in this entire process. Some special encouragement and a few little things that Michael himself has found to be very helpful are discussed in this “intermission phase”. Also discusses is the importance of “backlinks” and “inlinks” in short, the popularity of your site and who’s helping you advertise it. There just isn’t a better explanation for it with out watching the videos.

Module 5 is all about marketing. The detail (have you noticed that I use this word a lot) is amazing. Article marketing, e-mail marketing, and RSS feeds are only three of the numerous ways that are given in this module to make your site number one in the search engines, and by doing so you will make more money. These aren’t just mentioned either i.e. “be sure to use article marketing or e-mail marketing…” each marketing approach, has its own dedicated video. I haven’t come across, to date, a person (Michael) that truly and honestly wants you to succeed like he, wants you too, and is so willing to make this as easy as he has made it.

Module 6 is comprised of three videos that will take e-mail marketing to the next level. The videos will walk you through how to keep in touch with your website subscribers (those visitors that love you and want to read and know about everything that you are doing) automatically. If you want to share a single message with all of your subscribers with the push of a button rather than sending an individual e-mail to everyone separately, you can and this module shows you how to do that. This module, by the way, is seriously what drives sales (if you sale something) and keeps your visitors coming back for more.

And finally,

Module 7 Is all about your progress and success. These videos are here to teach you how to check your page clicks and many other statistics for your sites. This module also goes over the members forum and all that it offers to the members of AMR. And of course some remarks from Michael congratulating you for completing the course.

In January 2007 eBay will be getting rid of the Pre Approved bidding system. Which means 1 cent auctions in the auctions listings linking to your eBay store will be a thing of the past.

How am I going to get feedback quickly to get a store or use the Featured Items or Buy it Now options in selling goods?

Or how am I supposed to become a Powerseller now? Lots of people have become Powersellers using this technique but how are we going to do it now?

Well we can still have 1 cent buy it now products in our eBay stores. But they are not listed in auction listings I hear you say.

How well do you know the Advanced Search function of eBay? Or more importantly how well do your customers know it?

You can get all the 1 cent listings from store’s inventories by using the Advanced Search function a little creatively.

How will your customers know about it?

Well you can educate them and yourself, if you not too familar with the Advanced Search, by referring to this article, and believe me they will thank you for it.

I used this search technique to build my feedback up to enough to open a store as well as buying a few Christmas pressies so that all my feedback was not from 1 cent auctions. Some buyers will look at what your feedback contains so its good to have a few non 1 centers in there!!

Okay so here is how to use the Advanced search to find 1 cent store listings on the main http://eBay.com site. I’m sure the same logic applies to your localised eBay site.

1. Go to the eBay home page and select Advanced Search

2. Leave Enter Keyword or Item Number blank and select Everything Else for In this Category.

3. Leave everything else blank and ticked as default settings until the Show Only Section.

4. In the Show Only Section tick Buy it Now Items and Store Inventory items only.

5. Select Price: Lowest First in Sort By.

6. Press the search button.

7. You may get an error page or you have thousands of items to scroll through so click on information products from Categories list on the left so that you get mainly digitally delivered products.

8. Now by this point eBay probably doesn’t remember that it’s supposed to be searching byPrice Lowest First so make sure this is selected in the Sort by: Box.

9. Search through the 1 cent listings and pick out the interesting ones or whatever takes your fancy, buy and start building up your feedback.

10. Always check the postage cost when the listing says 1 cent as there are a few people who will put a high price on the postage and packaging even though it is a digital item.

Okay you now have in your hands a way to keep using the 1 cent auction. Use it wisely and make your customers love you and your feedback astounding!

eBay has become infamous for weird and wacky auctions. In this article, we will look at some of the zaniest and then discuss the practical lesson we can take away. First, let’s stimulate some ideas and look at some crazy listings:

In late 2004, Mary Anderson used eBay to sell her father’s ghost. Her father had recently died and Mary’s young son Colin was afraid that his grandfather’s ghost was haunting their house. When it got to the point that Colin could no longer sleep at night and to allay her son’s fears, Mary decided to auction the ghost off on eBay. As eBay requires you to sell something physical, the high bidder would receive her father’s old cane as well as the ‘ghost’. She stipulated in the listing that the winning bidder would have to write her son and reassure him that his grandfather’s ghost was safe and well. There were 132 bids in the auction and the winning bidder paid a final price of $65′000 (Goldenpalace.com was the high bidder they are an online casino that has achieved notoriety for their wacky eBay purchases). Mary has said that she will put the money in a college fund for Colin, who is presumably much happier now that the ‘ghost’ has moved house.

In June 2005, the wife of Tim Shaw, a well-known British radio DJ, sold her husband’s $50′000 Lotus Esprit sports car on eBay with a Buy It Now price of 50 pence ($1) while Shaw was still in the studio. Mrs Shaw heard him flirting with model Jodie Marsh on air, when he said he would leave his wife and two children for the model. Shaw’s wife said it was the ‘final straw’ and immediately listed the sports car (which he had been daft enough to buy in her name) on eBay for 50 pence, with the only stipulation being that the buyer would have to collect the car within ‘the next two to three hours before my husband gets home to find it gone and all his belongings in the street.’ The car sold within 5 minutes and was collected the same day.

A 19-year old man from England sold a single cornflake on eBay for one pound and twenty pence (approx $2.50). He listed the cornflake on the site as ‘an experiment’. At first there were no bids, but within a couple of days someone had offered a penny and the bids increased until he finally sold it for one pound twenty. Apparently he received some very interesting enquiries about the cornflake: one bidder asked if it would mate safely with a Sugar Puff, while another asked if it would be sociable if it was dropped in a fish tank.

A man from Arizona sold an air guitar (an imaginary guitar) on eBay for $5.50!

In February 2007, after Britney Spears shaved off all her hair, the salon she visited put the hair up for auction on eBay, as well as ¾ of a can of Red Bull she had drunk from and a blue Bic lighter she had used. The listing reached $1 million before it was removed by eBay amidst some controversy.

Water that was said to have been left in a cup Elvis Presley drank from during a 1977 concert was sold for $455.

A man from Brisbane, Australia attempted to sell neighboring New Zealand at a starting price of $0.01 AUD. Amazingly, the price had risen to $3′000 before eBay removed the listing.

In 2004, a scorned Seattle man listed his ex-wife’s wedding dress on eBay. The site attracted a boatload of viewers and bidders as the man himself modeled the dress for the photos. The dress had a starting price of $1 and finally sold for $3′850.

In 2000, a very enterprising seller tried to sell his soul on eBay. Unfortunately, as eBay requires a physical product to be delivered to the buyer and souls are a bit tricky to pack and ship, the listing was removed.

One of the most famous weird listings ever to grace eBay was the sale of the virgin Mary on a toasted cheese sandwich. Ten years prior to listing the sandwich, Diana Duyser of Miami apparently made the toasted sandwich for herself, only to see a vaguely familiar face staring up at her. She kept the cheese sandwich in her bedside cabinet for ten years before deciding to sell it on eBay. Despite the length of time, at the time of its sale the sandwich had yet to show a single spore of mold (allegedly!)

What do all these weird and wacky listings have in common? They ALL attracted a LOT of attention. And in a market where everyone is competing for attention, that’s a big deal. Your listing might have the perfect title, a flawless description, and a beautiful photograph, but as soon as you add that extra ‘something’ that creates a stir, you instantly make it (and your business) stand out from the crowd. And the bids start rolling in.

So how can you attract more attention to your listings on an everyday level? As a general rule, whatever everyone else is doing, do the opposite. There’s nothing to be gained from making your listings carbon copies of everyone else’s. Look for a hook, something that makes you unique and a bit different to everyone else, something that will grab the interest of the buyer. You don’t even have to do this with every listing create just one listing that is weird or wacky, and then cross-promote your store and other relevant products within that listing. Just attracting attention to one listing can be enough to get the ball rolling. Of course, it’s preferable if your ‘wacky’ listing has something in common with the other products or services you sell.

Suppose that the salon that sold Britney Spears’ hair had cross-promoted a range of hair products. People love to have a story behind something they buy, and if something they buy from you comes with a ready made story they can share with friends, they are that much more likely to make the purchase. Be alert to look for a hook in your listings – something that shouts out as being different and then make sure you cross-promote your related products and eBay store to attract as many buyers as possible. Try it, it works!
